Here's
how to make a simple search of ScubaDuba:
Enter a single word to find any ScubaDuba
links and descriptions that contains the exact whole word entered.
For example, entering the word "photo" will
find links and descriptions containing the word "photo"
but not "photography". If you enter
more than one word, your search will find links and descriptions containing
all of the words you entered. For example, "shark dive" will
find links and descriptions containing both the word "shark" and
the word "dive" (but not necessarily next to each other or in that order),
but will not find links and descriptions containing just
one of
those words.
To find parts of words, use an asterisk
(*) to represent missing parts of the word. For example, if you enter "photo*"
you search will match "photography", "photographic",
etc. Similarly, "*fish" will find "jellyfish",
"filefish", etc.

Here's
how to make a more complex search of ScubaDuba:
For more control over your ScubaDuba search,
you can use what is called a boolean expression. If you enter the
word "or" between two search words (with a
space between each word and the "or") ScubaDuba
will find any links and descriptions which contain either the first word,
or the second word, or both. For example, "manatee
or video" will find links and descriptions containing the word "manatee"
or the word "video", or both.
If instead of the word "or"
you enter the word "and", you search will
only find links and descriptions which contain both the word "manatee"
and the word "video". This is exactly the
same as a simple search for "manatee video",
so you do not need to use the word "and" in
this manner.
To find links and descriptions which do
not contain a particular word, place the word "not"
before it. For example, "not scuba" would
find all the links and descriptions which do not contain the word
"scuba". You can combine the "and",
"or" and "not"
commands in any search. For example, entering "angel
not queen" will find all links and descriptions containing the word
"angel" but not the word "queen".
For advanced use, you can use brackets
to group the search expression. For example, entering "shark
(reef or white)" will find all links and descriptions containing
the word "shark" and either "reef"
or "white", or both. If the brackets
are omitted, the "and" command has higher
precedence, so entering "shark and reef or white"
will find all links and descriptions containing "shark"
and "reef", and also records containing "white".
